William Merl Walker, 72, of Broken Bow passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. The son of NormanDucky E. and Lillian (Scott) Walker, Merl was born November 29, 1937 in Sherwood, Oklahoma. Merl worked for Dierks Box mill at Broken Bow for sometime before he and his family moved to Enid, OK where he drove Geer tank trucks for four years. They then moved to Victoria, TX where he worked in the oil field for the next four years. Merl then moved back to McCurtain County and worked for Weyerhaeuser until his health made him retire.Merl enjoyed watching westerns, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Merl leaves to cherish his memory his three children, William Carl of Battiest, Joseph Jody Glen and his wife Theresa of Sallisaw, Dedura Walker of Pickens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Earlene Walker of Bethel, OK, Don and June Walker of Valliant, OK; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and Harold Whatley of Bethel, OK; one sister-in-law, Betty Walker of Minneola, TX; three grandchildren, Neal and Kirsten Walker, and Douglas Walker; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.Cemetery:Sherwood CemeteryService:Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of William Merl Walker, please visit our floral store.
