Vila Mae Burns, 80, of Broken Bow passed away February 20, 2012 at her residence in Broken Bow. Vila Mae was born January 14, 1932 in Winters, TX. She was a long time resident of Broken Bow and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Vila Mae grew up in Hindricks Home for Children in Abilene, TX and graduated high school from Abilene High. She went to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. After teaching in Hobbs, NM; she and the love of her life Lloyd Burns married and she received her Masters Degree from East Texas State in Commerce, TX. "Mom was at her best when she taught, teaching was her calling." Vila Mae retired from Broken Bow Public Schools and was a reading specialist. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd Burns in 2004; twin sister and one brother. Vila Mae leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Greg Burns and wife, Cheryl of Broken Bow; four grandchildren, Mitchell Burns and wife, Hollie of Mounds, OK, Garett Burns of Stillwater, OK, Allison Burns of Wilburton, OK and Ann Mary Burns of Broken Bow, OK and host of other family and friends.Cemetery:Interment will follow in Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK. \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Vila Mae Burns, please visit our floral store.
