He worked most of his career as a grader operator and then a foreman for the McCurtain County Highway Department in District 1. He spent his later years farming, ranching and chasing his grandchildren.Vernon married Nona Partridge on November 12, 1965. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Dorothy Butler, wife Nona Butler, daughter Pamela Gail King, and brothers, Cecil, Percy and Harvey Butler.Vernon leaves to cherish his memory daughter Janie Isenberg and husband David, Ashdown, AR; one son Richard Butler and wife Peggy of Idabel, OK; a daughter Terri Smith and husband Mike of Tom, OK; grandchildren Cody, Sean, Dustin and Kimberlee Smith, Garrett and Jodi Butler, Diana Isenberg-Angel and Patrick Gallagher and five great-grandchildren.Brothers and sisters-in-law Jake and Ruth Butler, Ennis TX; Rayford and Bea Butler, Foreman, AR; Charles and Jamie Butler, Horatio, AR; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Robert Smith, Redland, Ok; Mary & Sherman Lincoln, Haworth, OK; Lucille & Jim Henderson and Shirley & Authur Oglesby of Arkinda, AR; sister-in-laws Shirley Butler, Foreman, AR; and Suzie Butler, Big Lake, TX; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.Graveside services will be Saturday January 17, 2009, 10:00 A.M. at the Campground Cemetery, Winthrop, AR.
