Verna Louise Fails, age 93, (formerly of Broken Bow, OK) died on Thursday, April 14, 2016, surrounded by family at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar, MO. She was born November 27, 1922, on a small farm in Shinewell, OK, to Frank and Carrie (Key) Sossamon and was the youngest of six children. Verna was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Broken Bow. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to fish, garden, cook, and Airstream--she really loved fishing and traveling. She, along with first husband Hal Webb, traveled from 1972 to 1982. She and Hal married in 1938. In 2004, when 81, she met, fell in love with and married James Robert Fails. Verna leaves to cherish her memory son David (Kristi) Webb, two grandchildren, Kerri Webb and Ami Webb; two great-grandchildren, Dustin Hall and Abagael Mazzuca; James' children and grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Hal Webb (2002) and then James Fails (2016), her parents and by her siblings, Evie Sikes, Virgil Sossamon, Annie Blankenship, Nina Neumann, and Fannie Fagg. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, OK with Bro. Greg Parnell officiating. Family will greet friends in the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow in Denison Cemetery in Idabel, OK.
