Vada Marvell (Cooper) Brumley, 73, of Pickens, Oklahoma entered into her eternal, heavenly home on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at her home. She was born on May 13, 1937, the daughter of Homer Cooper and Vada Sullivan Cooper.\\r\\n She was an active member of the Silver Creek Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. Marvell taught elementary education in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.\\r\\n Marvell enjoyed cooking, E-mailing relatives and friends, singing, playing piano, and loved her little dog, Shady. She valued her quality time spent with family and friends. Other interests include reading, composing poetry and embroidery. Only heaven will reveal how many lives she touched.\\r\\n She completed high school at Battiest, Oklahoma in 1955. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1960, where she met her husband, Darrel Brumley. They were united in married on January 30, 1960 in Pickens, Oklahoma. Darrel and Marvell began teaching school that same year.\\r\\n Marvell was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Vada Cooper and an infant sister, Beverly.\\r\\n She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of nearly 51 years, Darrel Brumley, sons and daughters in law, Kary and Kelli Brumley of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Daren and Sherry Brumley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Adam Brumley, Kari Bailey, Seth Brumley, Amelia Brumley, Lorelei Brumley, and Zane Brumley; great-grandchildren: Alana Bailey and Evan Bailey; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law and their families, special cousins, adopted son Doug and Sue Hicks, many other relatives and friends.\\r\\nMemorials:The family requests that donations be contributed to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.Cemetery:Interment will follow at Battiest Cemetery, Battiest, Oklahoma.Visitation:The family will receive friends on Friday, December 17, 2010, 6 8 p.m. at Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.Service:Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the School Cafetorium in Battiest, Oklahoma.
