Timothy A. Genzel

–

Wickes, Arkansas

Timothy Allen Genzel was born on August 12, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to Robert A. Genzel and Porter Reis "Penny" Nelms. Tim was one of seven children and had an identical twin named Tom.

At just 17 years old, with his father's signature, Tim joined the United States Army. After his time in the service, he worked a variety of jobs before beginning work on the night shift at General Motors. Tim was never afraid of hard work and often worked two jobs at a time. For many years he worked for Chaparral Trailer Company building custom race car trailers. He later ended his career working independently in cabinetry and home remodeling.

Tim had a strong work ethic and was a man of many talents, working throughout his life as a bricklayer, welder, mechanic, cabinet maker, carpenter and more. He was a gifted woodworker who enjoyed working in the shop he built on his property outside of Wickes. Despite his lack of formal education, he possessed a unique ability to envision a finished product and make it, often when others thought it could not be done.

Tim had a passion for anything fast. As a young man, he loved racing go-carts and eventually became involved with a dragster and funny car team, travelling back and forth across the country as the crew chief and part-time driver for the Chaparral Vega Race Team. He was known for his love of horse trading, quick trips to the casino and a good game of Texas Hold 'Em.

In May 1964, Tim married the love of his life Linda Kiser. Together they shared nearly 62 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life and raising two daughters, Teresa Ann and Lynetta Jo.

Tim was deeply proud of his family. Beyond being a devoted husband and father, his favorite title was "Papa."

Tim's memory will be cherished by his two daughters, Teresa Saathoff (Doug) and Lynetta Knight. He was the proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Beau Wheeler (Katya), Sawyer Neilson (Jordan), Sadie Neilson, Brucks Saathoff (Ashley), Annie Saathoff (Shane), and Emily Saathoff (Adam). He was blessed with great granddaughter's Rowan, Bea and Noa June.

He is survived by his two younger sisters, Kathy Baker and Cecilia Martin along with many beloved nieces and nephews, all whom he adored.

Tim was preceded in death by his wife Linda, parents Robert and Penny Genzel, his brothers Tom Genzel, Bobby Genzel and Danny Genzel, and sister Janet Elliston.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors, friends and relatives who so generously brought food and supported Tim and Linda over the past couple of years. Your kindness and generosity meant more than words can express.

A special thank you to Stevie Jo Merworth and Brenda Merworth for their compassionate care and support during Tim's final days. The family would like to thank Chad Broach and Danny Williams for driving Tim to the Elks Club on Tuesday nights when he was no longer able to drive himself so that he would not miss their weekly game of playing Texas Hold 'Em. Thank you also to the compassionate and kind group of nurses from Elite Hospice.

Tim carried a deep and quiet faith in God, one he rarely spoke of but plainly lived. Throughout his life, he held a special place in his heart for the underdog, for the person who needed a break and didn't always have someone to give them one. Time and again he helped those less fortunate than himself, often quietly slipping someone money when he saw a need, including people who others might have passed by.

In his final days, Tim reflected on Linda's decision to donate her body to science in support of medical education and research and chose to do the same. Since Tim and Linda passed away so close together, their ashes will be returned home together. It is a fitting reminder of the love and devotion they shared through nearly 62 years of marriage.
