Mena, Arkansas
Thurman Dale Robertson, age 88, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena, Arkansas. He was born on Wednesday, June 10, 1936 in Needmore, Arkansas to Lee Otis and Naomi Sears Robertson.
Thurman and his family moved to California during the Great Depression. While in California he married Dorothy Florine Campbell on February 10, 1954. They had 3 daughters, Kathie, Linda, and Mona. Thurman and Dorothy lived in California until 1984, when they relocated to Arkansas and purchased a poultry farm in Hatfield. They raised chickens there until 1999, then spent several years traveling before settling down in Mena.
Thurman had a passion for many things in life—fishing, storytelling, golfing, playing cards, and traveling, to name a few. But if you truly knew him, you’d know that two things stood out above all the rest: dancing and gambling. He and Dorothy were the last ones on the dance floor at their grandkids' and great-grandkids' recent weddings, and they were also well-known for their frequent visits to the casinos.
Thurman’s greatest accomplishment in life was no doubt his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Joe Robertson, Bill Robertson, Don Robertson, Junior Robertson.
Thurman is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dorothy Robertson of Mena; three daughters and sons in law, Kathie and Bill Kiser of Hatfield, Linda and Jim Neasbitt of Yuma, Arizona, and Mona and Danny McConnell of Mena; grandchildren, CherAmi and Allen Long, Andria and Jody Miller, Haley and Kirk Holder, Jason and Nicole Neff, Aaron McConnell, and Abigail and Travis Denton; great grandchildren, Shelby Long, Chase and Betsy Long, Kelly and Samantha Miller, Preston and Spencer Miller, Aiden Holder, Brady Holder, Landry Holder, Chase and Vanessa Neff, Sophie Neff, and Miles Denton; great great grandchildren, Brody Long, Brock Long, Jocie Long, Wyatt Miller, and Kolter Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
