Thomas (Leon) McGough, 91 of Wright City, OK passed away July 22, 2013 at his home in Wright City. Leon was born September 6, 1921 in Cerro Gordo, OK the son of Elijah Thomas McGough and Thelma (Tapley) McGough. Leon served twenty two years in the United States Army during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. During the Korean War he served as a Tank Commander and later retired as a Nike Missile Specialist. He has lived in this area since 1974. He was a member of the Idabel VFW and was a avid supporter and local activist of the Democratic Party. Leon and Sharon Lauren Johnson McGough were recently married on June 12, 2013 in Hugo, OK. Leon leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sharon Lauren Johnson McGough of Wright City, four sons, Arnold "Thomas" McGough and wife Beverly of Little Rock, AR, Allen McGough and wife Diana of Wright City, OK, Elliott McGough and wife, Armida of El Paso, TX and George McGough and wife, Lisa of Hitchcock, TX; two daughters, Anna Fern Braeutigam and husband Dewayne of Austin, TX and Sharon Godfrey of Alexandria, Virgina; three sisters, Pearl Slabaugh of Wright City, OK, Carolyn Thomas of Eufala, OK and Arvilla Bissell of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, grandson he raised, James McGough of Wright City, OK; step-children, Donald Johnson, Michael Wright and Stephanie Gammon all of Wright City, OK and Patricia Castro of El Paso, TX and many friends. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children and wife of forty five years, Anna Mary, second wife of twenty two years, Alma McGough, one brother, Preston McGough, three sisters, Ethel Lemmons, Imogene Tatum and Leota McGough.
