Silas "Sonny" John McKinney Obituary (1979 - 2021)

Silas "Sonny" John McKinney, 41, passed from this life February 21, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center. Sonny was born July 23, 1979 in Talihina, to Silas and Betty Jean (Shomo) McKinney. Sonny was a member of the Myrtlewood Baptist Church and had lived in McCurtain County for 37 years and then moved to Durant. He enjoyed watching OU Football and the Washington Redskins. Sonny loved to fish and travel. Sonny was engaged to marry Sylvia Geck; whom he had known for 2 years. Sonny was preceded in death by his sister, Alison McKinney, nephews, Bradley James McKinney and James Allen McKinney; maternal and paternal grandparents; and the mother to his daughter, Delissa Renee Hargo. Sonny leaves to cherish his memory, his fiance, Sylvia Geck, of Durant; parents, Silas and Betty Jean McKinney, of Broken Bow; daughter, Carli Harjo, and BJ Gardner, of Broken Bow; brother, John McKinney, of Broken Bow; sisters, Lisa McKinney and Joey McKinney, both of Broken Bow; granddaughter, Briseis Gardner; many nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and numerous special friends and other relatives. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday at 2pm at the chapel with a Wake Service Saturday from 4-6, also at the chapel.
