Sam Young Obituary (1953 - 2010) - Broken Bow, Oklahoma

Sam C Young III departed this life on February 23, 2010 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, TX. He was born to the late Lillie Mae and Sam C Young II on January 20, 1953 in San Diego, California. The family later moved to Broken Bow and Sam attended Dunbar School which soon integrated with Broken Bow Schools. During this time, he was a 3 year football letterman and member of the track team, graduating in 1971. He later became employed with the City of Broken Bow where he spent twenty-four years. Sam was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #184, 32* Mason. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Young was preceded in death by parents, Sam II and Lillie May Young, a brother, Anthony Young and four nephews, Jerell Westbrook, William Mack Jr., Ricky Young Jr. and Stevon Hammond. He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters and a son-in-law, Samritha and Rusty Sanchez of Bayfield, CO, Zonzurea Thomas of Durant, OK (born to Hazel Thomas of Broken Bow), Shalisa Daniel and Melinda Chevette Neal of Broken Bow (born to the late Evone Yvette Neal). Also, two brothers, Ronnie and Ricky Young Sr., eight sisters, Rita Young and Cynthia King, all of Broken Bow, Sandra Greenlee of Locksburg, AR, Denise Cherry and Shelia Stevenson of Durant OK, Eyvonne Westbrook of Sandusky,OH, Cherrie Hammond of Oklahoma City, Justine Ross of Nashville, AR, and a host nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
