Rodgers M Brooks Obituary (1930 - 2017)

Rodgers M. Brooks, 87, of Bethel, passed away the evening of Sunday, December 31, 2017 in Plano, TX. Rodgers was born June 3, 1930 in Waldren, AR, to Robert Lee and Mildred Ann (Darnelle) Brooks. Rodgers was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed carpentry work and built beautiful homes. Rodgers loved to go arrowhead hunting and travelling. Rodgers married the love of his life Nellie Phillips in DeQueen, AR, August 13, 1949, spending a special 69 years together, and doing everything together. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Mildred Brooks; two brothers, Bobby Brooks and Bill Ralph Brooks; sister, Lee Anne Stoval; two sons, Steve Brooks and Terry Brooks; and great-grandson, Mackenzie Guffey. Rodgers leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Nellie Brooks, of the home; children, Tommie and Wayne Donaldson, of Talihina, OK, Mary and John White, of Idabel, OK and Anneta and William Huggins, of Longview, TX; daughter in law, Carolyn Brooks, of Bethel, OK; sisters, Dovie Graham, of Washington, Genese Russell, of Post Falls, Idaho and Brenda Sickler, of Post Falls, Idaho; eighteen grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, January 5, 2018, at 10:00AM, at the Battiest Baptist Church with Rev. Archie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, OK. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 6:00 - 8:00PM, at the Charity Baptist Church, Broken Bow, OK.
