Rickey J. Short Sr., 55 of Eagletown, OK passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, TX. He was born March 24, 1958 in DeQueen, AR the son of Emerson and Vada Lou (Smith) Short. Rickey lived in this area all his life. Rickey and Cathy were married on March 3, 1979 in Hugo, OK. , He loved watching his boys play baseball and spending time with his family and grandkids. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Rickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling, wood working, playing poker and was a hard worker as a log cutter, an avid bow hunter and marksmen. Rickey was a true friend and neighbor. He was paralyzed in a logging accident in 1992 and began raising cattle and sponsoring a team in the chuckwagon races, he never stopped enjoying life. He always had a joke and a smile for everyone around him. Rickey is survived by his wife, Cathy Short of the home; three sons, Rickey Short Jr and wife, Mika of Broken Bow, OK, Andy Short and wife, Wendy of Haworth, OK, Ryan Short and wife, Jimmie Lynn (Peanut) of Eagletown, OK, special adopted, Billy Lewis of Ft. Hood, TX; three grandchildren, Colt, Macee and Riggen; mother, Vada Lou Short of Eagletown, OK; mother-in-law, Betty Brem of Rockport, TX, Father-in-law, Adon Winkler and wife, Bobbie of Belton, TX; four brothers, Randall Short and wife, Amy of Delight, AR, Robert Short and wife, Tami of Quincy, Illinois, Ray Short of Eagletown, Rodney Short and wife, Johnna of Eagletown, OK; two sisters, Ranell Short Smith and husband, James of Terra Haute, Indiana, Ramona Hale and husband, Mark of Eagletown, OK; special aunts and uncles, Carlene Sharrock, Nick and Joyce Short, Charles and Betty Smith and a host of other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson J. Short, brother, Jeremy J.
