Richard D. "Rick" Pike, 69, originally from Broken Bow, passed away August 22, 2017, at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center, in Dallas, TX. Rick was born January 30, 1948 to Rufus Draper and Dora Marie (Thomason) Pike, in Woodward, OK. Rick was a lifelong resident of Broken Bow until moving farther north to enjoy the beautiful mountains of Southeast Oklahoma. He loved fishing, hunting, and floating the lakes and rivers of McCurtain County. His travels to Alaska and Canada were among his favorite times. His son, Jason, and his grandchildren were the "light of his life." Rick enjoyed visiting with his sister, Karen Sue, and his nieces and nephews. Ricks' personality and laughter were contagious and his large family gatherings were always special to him. The special memories of being a quarterback for the Broken Bow Savages were always kept close to his heart. He always had a joke to tell or a friendly piece of wise advice. Rick was known always for having a smile. After graduating from Broken Bow in 1966, he then went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University with a degree in political science, and after a year at Tulsa Law School, he returned to Broken Bow to work with his family in the lumber business. He was co-owner of the Thomason Lumber Company and had established Little Dixie Wood, Inc. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, R.D. and Dora (Thomason) Pike; and brother, Jerry Pike. Rick leaves to cherish his memory his son, Jason Pike, of Broken Bow; brother, Tom Pike, and wife, Julie, of Valliant; sister, Karen Sue, and husband, Mike, of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Zebulon and Evangeline Pike; several nieces and nephews; cousins and a many other relatives; the mother of his son and life-long friend, Jo Carole Smith; and a host of many other special friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 3:00 PM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Rifle Association.
