Ralph Waldo Harwell, 84, of Idabel, passed away October 12, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. The son of Warren H. and Augusta (Fielder) Harwell, Ralph was born on June 19, 1926 at Mineral, Arkansas. He was a veteran of WWII, serving his country in the U.S. Navy. After an honorable discharge, he worked at the Broken Bow Post Office for seventeen years before relocating to Coweta, OK where he became Post Master. An avid fisherman, Ralph moved to Toledo Bend near Many, LA after retirement. In 2008, he returned to McCurtain County making his home in Idabel at the Colonial Lodge. Ralph enjoyed gardening, loved his family and friends, and going to church where he was a member of Grace Assembly in Idabel. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, J.W. Harwell. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Pattie, of the home; three children, Brenda Pate and her husband, Billy, of Valliant, OK, Joe Harwell and his wife, Antonia, of Many, LA, Kerry Thomas and her husband, Harley, of Broken Bow, OK; eight grandchildren, Kelly Loper and her husband, Chad, of Heavner, OK, Lisa Newbrough and her husband, Dr. Scott, of Edmond, OK, Sarah James and her husband, Juston, of Valliant, OK, Amanda Harwell of Converse, LA, Phillip Harwell of Many, LA, Harley Thomas Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Broken Bow, OK, Richard Thomas, and his wife, Amanda, of Poteau, OK, Matt Thomas and his wife, Amber, of Broken Bow; eleven great-grandchildren and several friends.Cemetery:Crown Hill Cemetery in Broken BowVisitation:6-8 pm Thursday at the Brumley Funeral HomeService:10:00 am Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ralph Harwell, please visit our floral store.
