Patricia (Pat) Baggs, age 83 of Pickens, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Paris, Texas. She was born in Deirk?s logging camp Alikchi on July 14, 1930, daughter of Mary and Jay Dagenhart. Pat grew up in Pickens and received a Bachelor?s degree from Texas Tech University and a Master?s degree from University of Central Oklahoma. She married Clifford Baggs in 1951, and they resided and raised three children in Midland, Texas, until they returned to Southeastern Oklahoma to start new careers. Pat became actively involved in serving her community and encouraging others to do the same. Among the many accomplishments are the new highway with bridge from Bethel to Pickens, the Battiest Kiamichi Family Clinic, Pickens Community Library, and the Pat Baggs Baseball Field (Field of Dreams). She was the Displaced Homemaker?s Coordinator at the Kiamichi Vocational Center for 15 years. Pat was awarded the Oklahoma All-State Board of Education Member of 1999. She served on McCurtain Memorial Hospital Board and was President of Battiest School Board, President of Little Dixie Community Action Agency Board, and SOS Board Chairman. She received many awards including a Proclamation of "Mrs. Pat Baggs Day" from the Mayor of the City of Idabel, and a Citation of Congratulation from Senator Jerry Ellis resulting in the naming of the Patricia R. Baggs Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital. Pat was a tireless and passionate example to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many who were in need. She leaves husband Cliff, daughter Marilyn Tolbert and Bill of Alaska, son Richard Baggs and JoAnn of Pickens, and son Gary Baggs and Camille of College Station, Texas. She also leaves grandchildren Kristin Helvey and Cale Tolbert; Rich Baggs, Amanda Schwilch, and Robert Baggs; Cassie Baggs and Grant Baggs. Her great grandchildren are James and Luke Helvey; Garrett and Karlie Baggs; Amelia and Cooper Schwilch; and Madilynne Baggs. She also leaves sisters, Virginia Meek and Phynes of Golden, Missouri, Helen Bartlet of Claremore, Oklahoma, AliceTucker of Midland, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will cherish her memory, and she will be loved and missed by all. She is Gone Home to be with the Lord.
