Ormand Daniel Decker Obituary (1929 - 2018)

Ormand Daniel Decker, age 88, a long time resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma passed from this life October 5, 2018 at Saint Simeon's in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born December 31, 1929 to David and Matilda Decker in Meno, Oklahoma. Soon after graduating from Oklahoma Bible Academy, Ormand was drafted into the Army. He served three tours in Germany, one tour in Okinawa and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. While stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, Ormand served with the National Army Rifle Competition Team. He served in White Sands, New Mexico at the missile testing grounds with the Lance missile system. Ormand's service also included the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command. He received the Vietnam Campaign and Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal and Aircraft Crewman's Badge, Bronze Star Medal and others. He served our country proudly for 22 years. He retired from military service in 1975 and settled in Broken Bow where he ranched for many years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and enjoyed his grandchildren spending the summers with him. Ormand and Darlene Dirksen Decker were married for 66 years. Ormand was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Matilda and David Decker; a sister, Launita Decker, and a son-in-law Leroy Snyder. Ormand is survived by his wife, Darlene Decker, of the home; daughter, Sheree Snyder, of Henryetta, OK, son, Monte Decker and wife Sherry of Owasso, OK, grandsons, Dusty Snyder of Tulsa, OK, Zach Decker and wife Chelsey and two great grandsons Ben and Wilson Daniel of Claremore, OK, and granddaughter Tess Decker of Owasso,OK. A funeral service for Ormand will be held at the First Baptist Church of Broken Bow, OK where he was a member on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Brother Pete Wilson. Interment will follow at Broken Bow Cemetery under the direction of Brumley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
