Norris Gwyn Harkey, 68, of Oak Hill Community passed away January 21, 2013 at his home in Oak Hill. He was born August 19, 1944 at Oak Hill, the son of Cyle and Annie Lee (Farley) Harkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wendell Harkey, cousin, Joe Harkey, grandparents, Elbert and Blanche Farley and Marvin and Emma Harkey. Norris and Glenda (Bean) were married on June 7, 1969 at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow. Norris served as a deacon and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Idabel for twenty years. He had been a member of Golden Baptist Church for the past two years. He was a proud member of the Oklahoma Baptist Village Retirement Center, National Rifle Association, Oklahoma Retired Educators Association and enjoyed ranching, gardening and fishing. Norris taught band and history in Keys, OK and Broken Bow for twenty nine years. After retirement in 1996, he pursued local home construction until final retirement in 2007. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Norris is survived by his wife, Glenda (Bean) Harkey of the home; two sons, Lesley Harkey of Tacoma, WA, Kendal Harkey and fianc e, Stacey and children, Chase and Brooklyn of Little Rock, AR; one brother Lee Harkey and wife, Virginia of Broken Bow, OK; one sister, Ivadell Plemmons and husband, Pete (Lyndon) of Battiest; aunt, Jo Farley of Hooks, TX; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of friends.Cemetery:Watson Cemetery at Oak Hill \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Norris Harkey, please visit our floral store.
