Norman J. Monroe, 88, of Idabel passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel, OK. Norman was born April 23, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and traveling. Norman served as mill manager for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company, Valliant, OK from 1971 until retirement in 1982. Previously from 1967 until 1971 he worked at Weyerhaeuser Company, Longview, WA until moving to Oklahoma. Before that he worked at White Pigeon Paper Company, White Pigeon, Michigan. Norman was a graduate of Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy Monroe, longtime resident of Idabel, OK and summertime resident of Birch Lake, Michigan. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mae Monroe of Harrison, NY. Norman is survived by one sister, Jane Beck and husband, Robert of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Mindy Timmons and husband, Steve of Broken Bow, OK; four sons, Norman Monroe and wife Karen of Broken Bow, OK, Tim Monroe of Florence, KY, Robert Monroe and wife, Maureen of Bellingham, Washington, Tom Monroe and wife, DiDi of Sumner, WA; ten grandchildren, Stevie Timmons, Melissa Stout, Derek Monroe, Kandace Monroe, Katie Monroe, Jim Monroe, Erin Monroe, Megan Roach, Lauren Sondenberg and Drew Monroe; five great-grandchildren, Skylar and Maci Stout, Kaiden and Kelsi Monroe, and Isla Roach.Cemetery:Interment will follow in the Constantine Township Cemetery, Constantine, MI. \nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Norman J.
