Newman "Gee" Tisho Sr, 90 of Oak Hill passed away October 14, 2015. He was born May 4, 1925 to Lasen (Anderson) Tisho and Wesley Tisho in the Oak Hill community. Newman was a full blood Choctaw. Newman was a member of Tohwali United Methodist Church in Oak Hill, OK where he served as church trustee for fifteen years. He served in the United States Army. His active service began on October 12, 1943 as a rifleman, in the CP1 rank, Battles and campaign in So Philippines, Ryukyus. He received many decorations and citations which include: Victory medal, American Theater ribbon, Asatic-Pactic Theater ribbon, W/Bronze service stars Philippine Liberation ribbon, Good conduct medal and the Purple Heart. Newman was wounded in action, May 11, 1945 in Okinawa. He received an honorable discharge - disability in January 1, 1946. Newman was a school bus driver for Oak Hill and Lukfata Elementary from August 1963 to 1976. He had served his country and community. Newman loved his family, enjoyed reading newspapers attending Broken Bow Senior Citizens and loved to sit on his front porch every morning and evening waiting for the school bus to drive by. He and Mary (Winship) Tisho, are survived by eight children, Kenneth Tisho and wife, Sue of Shawnee, OK, Newman Tisho, Jr , Wendell Tisho, Jeanetta Jackson and husband Richard all of Broken Bow, Lambert Tisho of Glenn Pool, OK, Wesley Tisho, Rico Tisho and Kathy Tisho all of Broken Bow and one sister Emma Wilson of Broken Bow, OK; fifteen grandchildren, Robbie, Crystal, Jim, Steven, Jay, Kyle, Kiesha, Shawna, Jerrod, Candace, R.J., Isaac, J.R., Kayla and Lindsey; forty three great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and special friends, Tony Messenger and Thomas Williston. He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Mae Tisho, son, John Dale Tisho, father; Wesley Tisho, mother, Lasen, two grandsons, Allen Ray Tisho and Arlin James Tisho and sister, Mable Tisho Jacob. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Tohwali United Methodist Church in Oak Hill Community. Rev. Eli Mc Henry will officiate.
