Mercedes "Sis" Shalyn McGough, 29, passed from this life March 31, 2021 in Wright City. She was born to Jacqualine (Sampson) Sanchez on September 9, 1991, in Talihina. \nMercedes was affiliated with the Kulli Chito Presbyterian Church of Bethel and had lived most of her life in McCurtain County. She enjoyed fishing, listening to music, playing video games, reading, and writing. She had recently started to learn how to cook traditional foods. \nShe married James McGough in Texarkana, AR, on December 8, 2015. They enjoyed fishing, driving around, traveling, and going for walks together.\nMercedes was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqualine; aunt, Audra Sampson; maternal grandfather, Albert Sampson; maternal great-grandparents, George and Hester Battiest; paternal great-grandmother, Maurelia Rocha; and great-grandfather, Aurelio Sanchez.\nMercedes is survived by her husband, James McGough, of Wright City; father, Salvador Sanchez, of Graham, TX; step-son, Billy McGough, of Wright City; brothers, Jaden Sanchez and Galen Sanchez, both of Wright City; sisters, Maria McDonald, and husband, Gage, of Stillwater, and Adrienne Wallace, of Idabel; nieces, Sophia McDonald, of Stillwater, and Amiya McGough, of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, Gaven McGough, also of Colorado Springs, CO; grandmother, Nettie Webb, and Will (Papa) Watkins, of Wright City; grandparents, Baleria Martinez, and Salvador Sanchez Rocha, of Arlington, TX; aunts, Maria de Jesus and Maria Guadalupe, both of Arlington, TX, Becky Cheshire, of Star City, AR, and Leigh Esterlyn, of Wright City; uncles, George Pell, of Broken Bow, and Robert Sampson, of Wright City; many cousins and other relatives too many to mention.\nA Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, April 5, 2021 at 2:00 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. \n\nTo send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Mercedes Shalyn (Sampson) McGough, please visit our floral store.
