Mattie Marie Johnson Obituary (1938 - 2017)

Mattie Marie Johnson, 78, of Broken Bow, passed away the morning of January 16, 2017, at the Broken Bow Health and Rehab. Mattie was born December 29, 1938, to Lewis and Jessie (Young) Goodman in Holly Creek, OK. Mattie was affiliated with the Wright City First Baptist Church and had lived in McCurtain County all of her life. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, fishing, gardening, hunting and spending time with her family. She and Coy Johnson were united in marriage in DeQueen, AR and shared 55 years together before his passing. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Jessie Goodman; husband, Coy H. Johnson; daughter, Earleen; and several brothers and sisters. Mattie is survived by her sons, Jimmy Ray Grace and wife, Sue, of Broken Bow, and Macky Joe Grace of Broken Bow; daughters, Rosa Shrader and husband, Allan, of Florida, Delia McDonald and husband, James, of Broken Bow, Donna Cogburn and husband, Clifton, of Wright City, Kathy McCarrell and husband, James, of Broken Bow, Carolyn Queen and husband, Terry, of Broken Bow, and Kristy Marable and husband, Christopher, of Broken Bow; step-children, Norma Whisenhunt and husband, Glen, of Rufe, OK, Don Brock and wife, Debbie, of Texline, TX, Patricia Castro and husband, Pablo, of El Paso, TX; and Don Johnson and wife, Anita, of Wright City, OK; brothers, Minor Goodman, of Wright City, Ted Goodman and wife, Ann, of Broken Bow, John Goodman and wife, Wanda, of Wright City, and James Goodman, of Enid, OK; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 2:00 PM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, with Pastor Randy Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Watson Memorial Cemetery, Broken Bow. Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel.
