Mary Elizabeth McDaniel, 79, of the Herndon Community, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 13, 2018, in Idabel, OK. Mary was born to D.J. and Lavada "Wid" (Carper) Hollingsworth on March 18, 1939, in Valliant, OK. Mary was a member of the Green Chapel Assembly of God Church and had lived in McCurtain County all of her life. Mary enjoyed fishing, gardening, and painting. She loved to crochet and knit, as well. Mary was known to hit a few yard sales when she could, collecting crystal rocks, spending time with her grandchildren, and always loved to sing. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. (Bill) McDaniel; son, Steve Hollingsworth; daughter, Melissa McDaniel; parents, D.J. and Wid Hollingsworth; grandson, James Luther Conterez; and brother, James Carper. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Billy Shane McDaniel and wife, Marketa, of DeQueen, AR; daughters, Vonda Cupit and husband, Orville, of Rufe, Deanna Conterez, of McAlester, Janice McDaniel, of Broken Bow, Peggy Hammonds and husband, William, of the Shults Community, Judy Blair, of the Herndon Community, and Debbie Colson and husband, Jerry, of Broken Bow; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends, including her special sister-in-law, who was more like a sister, Ruth Nance, of the Herndon Community. A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 2:00PM, at the Green Chapel Assembly of God Church, in the Herndon Community, with Pastor Lynn Gaskey officiating. Burial will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018, from 6-8PM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.
