Mary Chandler Hewitt, 101, of Broken Bow passed away September 17, 2012 at her home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Mary was born December 30, 1910 in Holly Creek, OK. She and D.L. Hewitt were married in 1942. Mary graduated high school in Marble Falls , TX, attended college in Durant, OK and went on to become an educator for 37 years. She was inducted into the Broken Bow Teacher Hall of Fame, and received the Oklahoma Retired Teacher Association Pioneer Award. She was also a charter member of the First Christian Church in Broken Bow, and was co-owner of the Chandler-Hewitt Drug Store. Mary enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved going to family reunions in, Caddo Gap, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents William Herbert Chandler and Mattie Jones Chandler; husband D.L.; brothers Rex A. Chandler, Herbert Chandler, and Harold Chandler; adopted son, R. Paul Chandler; nephew, Dr. Harold Chandler. Mary leaves to cherish her memory her adopted sons, Rex W.
