Granny Bea (Mary Beatrice Cox) of Broken Bow passed away at home on September 22, 2011. She was born June 15, 1923 to Charles and Lois (Green) McGowen. Granny was the loving wife of Howard Cox for 50 years. She worked in many sawmill camps as his camp cook at several locations. No one could cook like Granny Bea. They enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially from Nevada to Broken Bow. After they retired they enjoyed traveling in their motor home and fished every day. Granny loved family get-togethers and talking about the old days. Granny Bea was a gifted quilter and made quilts for everyone she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lois McGowen; her husband, Howard Cox; her only son, Jerry Mac Cox; her only daughter, Joyce Ann (Cox) Knight and son-in-law James Orville Knight; two brothers, Charles McGowen and John McGowen; one granddaughter, Darla Jo Cox. Granny leaves her two cats, Willie and Marvin; and to cherish her memory a very special granddaughter, Jerri Knight and great-granddaughter, Shelbie, of the home; a special grandson, Dwayne Cox and wife Jammie; two great-granddaughters, Kelsie Lynn and Megan Ann Cox, of Clarksville, TN; her first grandson, James Howard Knight and wife Gwendolyn; great-grandson, James Patrick Knight of Conyers, GA; one sister, Florence Rucker of Pensacola, FL; special family, Tom and Martha Hutchison of Stillwater, OK; Sid Knight of Porter, TX and Beth Jackson of Broken Bow, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; special care givers, Renisa Underwood, Mary Lewis, Ruth Cunningham and Lycretia Hicks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Melvin Gibson officiating. Grannys family donated the Broken Bow Cemetery sign where she will be laid to rest.
