Leona Laverne Burris (Tootsie) was born July 19, 1943 in Horatio, AR to Lucy Dillahunty and Robert Smith. She departed this life at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, TX on August 20, 2013 to enter into her heavenly home. She worked at Kellwood for several years before becoming a homemaker for the remainder of her life. She sang with the non-denomination choir for many years. They traveled from city to city to different churches ministering in song. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Westside serving in the kitchen and also a member of the choir. Leona had a big heart; she always kept her door open to everyone. Her flamboyant spirit will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and her loving husband of fifty years.
