Larry King

Larry Darnell King, age 67, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at his home. Larry was born Sunday, June 23, 1957, to Willie Lee and Betty Lee Johnson King, Sr. in Detroit, Michigan.

Larry, a proud Marine Corps veteran, lived a life of adventure and change before settling in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. There, he spent his days working at Tysons until he retired. Larry was a true sports enthusiast, who lived for football, with his heart divided between the Detroit Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers as they fought for victory on the field. When he wasn't watching a game, he enjoyed playing dominoes and listening to the soulful tunes of "Old School" R&B music.

Larry, a man who cherished quiet moments of solitude and self-reflection, held family close to his heart. His love extended to his children and grandchildren, creating a bond that brought happiness to his life.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Albert King, Lorenzo King and Wilbert King.

Larry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Ashley Brunt; two daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly and Virgil Burton and Sharise McGuire; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Hamp and Alliene Johnson, Willie and Denise King, Jr., Dwayne and Cynthia King, and Cornell King; one sister and brother-in-law, Esterine and Johnnie Woods; two sisters-in-law, Diane King and Felicia King; his grandchildren, Kiyah Brunt, Mila Brunt, Siena Brunt, Keyana Rumph; one great-grandchild, Kenzie Farmer; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service in honor of Larry will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Pastor Grandville Jett officiating. Cremation services have been entrusted to the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
