Joseph was affiliated with Tohwali United Methodist Church. He attended Goodland Indian Orphanage School near Hugo. Joe joined the United States Army in June 1942. He married Helen V. McCurtain on April 14, 1945 in Cheraw, South Carolina. He served in the army as a demolition specialist in the 542nd Parachute Infantry until 1945. Joe rejoined the Army in August 1949 into Company F 351st Infantry where he remained until August 29, 1957 when he was Honorably discharged. He received The American Theatre Campaign Victory Medal, he served in Trieste, Italy and Korea, and Joe also received a letter from the now President of the Republic of Korea, Kim Dae-jung for his noble contribution to the efforts to safeguard the Republic of Korea.Joe loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and caring for his lawn. He enjoyed family visits and time with grandsons.He was preceded in death by his parents, Archibald and Lena Taylor; sisters, Catherine Taylor Sexton and Rhoda Taylor Notah; brother, Wayland Nelson; grandson Joe Coleman; great-granddaughter, Shayanna Taylor; and great grandson, Brandon Samuel Choate.Joe leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty years Helen Taylor, of the home; three sons Kimbrough Taylor and wife Gloria, and Perry Taylor all of Oklahoma City, and Matthew Taylor of Broken Bow; three daughters, Ruby Choate and husband Lyman, and Priscilla Coleman all of Broken Bow, and Sandra Denton and husband K.A. of Blanchard, OK; sister, Lucille Underwood of Antlers, OK; twenty one grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. Interment will follow at Watson Cemetery, Oak Hill Community. Rev. Harvey Williams and Rev.
