Jerry Smith

Jerry Howard Smith, age 83, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at his home. He was born on Tuesday, August 26, 1941 to Willie and Addie Marie White Smith in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

Jerry was a devoted husband and father whose love for his family was unwavering. A faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, he lived a life grounded in service, integrity, and strength. Jerry was a hardworking man who built a long and diverse career—first as an automotive mechanic for twenty years, then in the plastics industry for another two decades. Even after retiring and relocating to Mena, he continued to put his many talents to use, working fifteen more years as a carpenter and electrician for Fisher Construction. A true jack of all trades, Jerry could figure anything out, and his practical skills were matched only by the generosity of his spirit. Known for his honesty and straightforward nature, Jerry never sugar-coated the truth and was deeply respected for his wisdom and dependability. He was a loyal friend and a trusted mentor to many, always offering sage advice and standing firm in his beliefs.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ronald Vence Smith.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gaye Smith of Mena; one son, Ronald Smith of Mena; one sister in law, Lynn Knight and her husband, Dickie; and many close friends and Masonic brothers.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas with Brother David Fisher and Brother Steve Oglesby officiating under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. No visitation is planned.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Smith, David Fisher, Steve Oglesby, Kelly Shreve, Russell Myers, John Little, and Joe Boldrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Voice Project at 646 North Coit Road, Suite 2250, Richardson, Texas 75080.
