Jay Durham Jr, 86, of Broken Bow, passed away July 16, 2016, at his home, in Broken Bow. He was born June 5, 1930, in Ft. Worth, TX, the son of Jay and Grace Eleanor (Taylor) Durham, Sr.Jay and LaWanda (Mullens) Durham were united in marriage on October 14, 1970, in Clarksville, TX. He was a member of the Broken Bow Church of Christ and served in the United State Navy as an Airman from 1947 -1953 during the Korean War and was a Shellback. He was a longtime member of the Broken Bow VFW. Jay was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed taking his boys fishing, camping, and hunting. He loved playing dominoes and dice games. Everyone remembers his sense of humor and how he loved to play pranks and be a practical joker. Jay loved his family and friends. Jay leaves to cherish his memory his wife, LaWanda Durham, of the home; his children, Beady Gragg, of Haworth, OK, Charlie and Ann Gragg, of Idabel, OK, Bill Gragg, of Broken Bow, OK, and Kenneth and Julia Durham, of Coffeyville, KS; eight grandchildren, Jason Coffman, Larry Gragg, Ammie Pennington, Brandon Gragg, Garry Juarez, Justi Smith, Donald Durham, and Annabel Durham; ten great-grandchildren and a host of friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Grace Eleanor (Taylor) Durham Sr, and two sisters, Marie Lane and Helen Rector.A Celebration of Life Service will be held July 19, 2016 at 10 AM at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with George Phipps officiating. Interment will follow at Hochatown Cemetery, Hochatown, OK.The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 pm- 8 pm at Brumley Funeral Home.
