Imogene S. Burris Obituary (1915 - 2010)

Imogene S. Burris passed away January 27, 2010 at the McCurtain Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow, OK. She was born August 18, 1915 in DeKalb, Texas the daughter of William Henry Story and Eunice Robinson Story. She was married to Wilbur W. Burris August 10, 1946 at DeQueen, Arkansas. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow serving as church clerk for fifty years, superintendent of the Young Peoples Department, was a choir member for many years, taught Sunday school classes and the Joy Class for more than twenty years. Her church was a very large part of her life. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron several times and was secretary for twenty three years to the Broken Bow Chapter. Served as Grand Chaplin for the state of Oklahoma, served on the Advisory Board of Rainbow girls and received the Grand Cross of Color. She was an employee of the Citizen State Bank in Broken Bow when it opened in 1946 and was employed by the Dierks and Weyerhaueser companies for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eunice Story and her husband Wilbur W. Burris. She is survived by an aunt, J. Nell Torkelson, of Northhome, Minesota and sister-in-law Ellen Faye Burris of Broken Bow, OK, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 29, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow, OK with interment to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK. Bro. Clark Wrather will officiate.
