Georgia Mae Blackwell, age 96, of Octavia, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her home. She was born on Friday, November 22, 1929 to George Ernest and Lena Mae Fields Davis in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Georgia was a strong Christian woman whose life was centered around her faith and her family. She often shared the wisdom of her favorite saying, “Nothing is all good or all bad,” a simple reminder of the perspective and wisdom she carried throughout her life.
Georgia and her husband, Bob, shared a loving and committed marriage and worked together to build a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Together, they raised five children and taught them the importance of working hard, caring for one another, and knowing and loving God. While Bob worked hard as an auto mechanic and provider for their family, Georgia devoted much of her life to making their house a home. She was a wonderful cook, gardener, seamstress, and homemaker who canned food from the garden and cared for her family. She also served as the bookkeeper for Bob’s auto mechanic shop, making the two of them a true team throughout their life together.
Her children were her greatest pride and joy, and one of the many ways Georgia showed her love was through her home-cooked meals. Her family will especially remember her famous yeast rolls, fried okra, and fried chicken, along with the countless meals she lovingly prepared and shared around the table.
Faith was important in Georgia’s life and the home she and Bob created. Sundays and Wednesday nights were devoted to church, and all five of their children were raised to know and love God. For more than 30 years, Georgia was a faithful member of Octavia Baptist Church, where she joyfully shared her musical gifts by playing the piano as needed during Sunday services. She was always willing to play for other churches whenever she was asked and also served by teaching Sunday school and sharing her love for Jesus with others.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Blackwell; three brothers, Leon Davis, James Davis and William Davis; one sister, Maxine Baker; one grandson, Dalton Blackwell and one great grandson, Richie St. Denis III.
Georgia is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Tara Blackwell of Smithville, Oklahoma, and Alan and Terri Blackwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three daughters and a sons-in-law, Elaine and O.W. Thomasson of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Sharon and Tony Lacaze of Oak Point, Texas and Christy and Brian Kannegiesser of Skiatook, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Amy Durst, Erin Cannon, Adam Blackwell, Brianne Garcia, Allie Ezell, Lena Kannegiesser, Lita Morena-Thomasson, Olivia Kannegiesser, Manny Thomasson and Joseph Thomasson; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
