Gene Harris, 91, of Battiest was called home by his Heavenly Father on August 30, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, TX. The son of Clint and Minnie (Barton) Harris, Gene was born on September 21, 1919 in Hatfield, AR. Gene married Carra Mae Prewitt on June 30, 1940 in Battiest, OK. He was a veteran, serving his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. Gene was affiliated with the Battiest Assembly of God. He worked as a Timber Marker for Weyerhaeuser for thirty six years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working his cattle and coon hunting. Gene loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Glenda, granddaughter, Angie, son, Jimmy Ray Harris and grandson, Jimmy Ray Harris, Jr. Gene is survived by his wife Carra Mae Harris of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Kenneth Crawford of Broken Arrow, OK, Linda and David Berry of Battiest, OK; nine grandchildren, Jeania Ishmael, Kenny Crawford, Sandy Gaskey, Kari Stuart, Deania Dowty, Kristy Thomas, Paul David Berry, Lance Harris and Deah Moody; nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Battiest Assembly of God. Bro. Donnie Wagoner and Bro. Robert Sullivan will officiate.
