She was born in Pettigrew, Arkansas, on August 25, 1917, the daughter of Edwin H. and Fanny Nanney Harvey. Fern married Coy Rice on December 24, 1937, and they shared 55 wonderful years together. Coy preceded her in death on March 23, 1993.Fern was a loving mother, a helper and bookkeeper in her husband's business, a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a founding member and active participant of Trinity Baptist Church. Her family and friends remember her gardens, her quilting and other craft work, her visiting shut-ins, and her love of travel. She was devoted to God, her church, and her family.Fern is survived by her children, Charles Rice and Marianne Beede, Carrollton, TX. Norma and Lorne Phillips, Topeka, KS. and Judy Barnett, Idabel; her grandchildren Barry and Tara Barnett, Flower Mound, TX. And Carolyn and Patrick Williams, Murphy, TX.; five exceptional great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sehon, Pensacola, FL. and a special friend, Charles McGuire, Idabel.A viewing is scheduled at Brumley Funeral Home, Idabel from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15. Services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2005, with interment at Denison Cemetery.
