Doyle Turner

–

Wickes, Arkansas

Doyle Ray Turner, age 88, of Wickes, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022 while surrounded by loved ones in his home. He was born on Wednesday, November 14, 1934 to Denver Carson Turner and Sylvia Mae Davis Turner.

Doyle was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. He was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. Doyle was an avid reader of his Bible and was almost finished reading it through for the 30th time. If you arrived at his house early enough in the morning you would find him in his favorite blue recliner sipping his coffee and reading his daily scriptures. He was a 1954 Graduate of Gillham High School. Doyle met and married the love of his life Dexter (Miles) in 1959. Together they raised poultry and cattle for many years. He drove a feed truck for Lane Poultry and spent many years logging as well. Doyle retired from the Wickes School District after 17 years as a bus driver. He loved his children with everything he had. Years later when grandchildren came along, his heart expanded a little more each time as each new grandchild, great grandchild, and great-great grandchild would become another one of his favorites. On his final days on Earth, he still had someone to read his Bible to him and pass him a baby for one last loving. Doyle was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, brother, brother in law, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Sylvia Turner; two brothers, Lloyd Turner and Charles "Bunk" Turner; one sister, Sylvia Arlena "Nina" Turner; and lifetime Navy buddy, Bob Sexton.

Doyle is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Dexter Turner of Wickes; two sons and daughter in law, Steve Turner, and Micheal Turner and wife Shannon; two daughters and son in law, Sondra Turner, and Shirley (Sissy) and Eric Sanders; grandchildren, Joni Gomez and husband Ruben, Amanda Frachiseur and husband Clint, Jana Merlone and Jeremiah O'Neal, Brandon Smith, Stephanie Miller and husband Travis, Erica Branda and husband Todd, Seth Smith and Tori, Morgan Turner, Dakota Turner, and Haven Sowell and husband Lance; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great grandchild and one on the way; one brother, Doyne Turner; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
