Elza "Dean" Jones, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma died Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Paris Regional Health Center in Paris, Texas, just shy of his 85th birthday. He was born on Friday, November 11, 1938, to Paul Genon and Iva Lee Wages Jones in Madison, Arkansas. Dean had a fulfilling life, full of passion, dedication, and love for his family and his country. Family was at the forefront of Dean's devotion, and he worked tirelessly to ensure their wellbeing and happiness. This affection extended beyond his immediate family, reflecting his belief in the importance of strong family ties and community relationships. His tireless work ethic was fueled by his desire to provide and care for his family. Dean was a heavy machine operator for most of his life, operating a dozer for Roger Routh Enterprises. He also served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, demonstrating his courage, selflessness, and dedication to his country. Dean was a man of simple tastes and profound joy. He found solace and happiness in the melodies of country western music, or a good western movie. An avid outdoorsman, Dean loved nothing more than engaging in his favorite recreational activities, such as fishing and hunting. He enjoyed the tranquility of the wilderness, finding peace and fulfillment in the harmony of nature. Dean was best described as a hard-working and loyal man, qualities that were woven into every aspect of his life. His impact on those around him was profound and will continue to live on in the hearts of his beloved family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roy Jones; and two grandchildren, Brandon Harkadine and Cason Cather. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lue Nipper Jones of Holly Creek, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean, Jr. and Rita Jones of Holly Creek, Oklahoma and Stacy and Pam Jones of Valliant, Oklahoma; two daughters and son-in-law, Angie Jones of Taylorsville, North Carolina and Mandy and Paul Moorman of Newton, North Carolina; four brothers, Eugene Jones of Wenatchee, Washington, Leo Jones of Oregon, Danny Jones of Wenatchee, Washington, and Donnie Jones of Washington; five sisters, Reba Butcher of Oregon, Sue Westbrook of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Gail Hopson of Eagletown, Oklahoma, Debbie Jones and Glenda Ogden of Durant, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
